It is June and after a quite cold and wet spring the sun and summer temperatures have finally arrived. So I thought it is a good time to give another update on our garden. As you might have noticed I haven’t been writing any stories for a while, but it has been quite a strange past few months and to be honest our plans for the house and garden were constantly changing. We had already full plans for a large house extension filed at the local authorities and that would have drastically changed the garden. But we were in doubt and as the saying goes : When in doubt, throw it out. So we stopped the whole procedure. The impact of it would have been too big on our land, the flow of the garden and would have almost entirely blocked the view.
The extension plans might be out of the door, but we decided to tackle the garden patio zone and the zone between the house and the pond. I went to the drawing board and plans for the hard landscaping are almost finished, but more about that in another article.
Thanks to the wet spring the garden has been quite lush and green lately and even now with dry and hot temperatures it still is in very good shape. The only negative about all the rain were the amount of snails. They extinguished my whole zucchini and pumpkin crop and did some veil attacks on some of the other crops. But that is nature and you can’t have it all ( I guess some might not agree with me :-))
Strangely enough this year the snails seem to be less interested in the shade garden and left the columbines alone. The shade garden does very well this year, with all the moist the ferns look lovely.
Anyway, I will just show you some pictures now and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave the behind in the comment zone.
